Tony Buttrick joined Flagstar Bank in March 2014 as chief information officer. In this role, he is responsible for developing and implementing information technology initiatives that support Flagstar’s strategic vision, while improving cost effectiveness, service quality, and business development.
Prior to Flagstar, he spent 10 years with Bank of America in Charlotte, N.C., holding several technology and risk management executive positions, each with global responsibility. Earlier in his career, he spent three years in a CIO role with Fidelity Investments in Charlotte, and 23 years total with the U.S. Navy. He served 16 years on active duty in various special operations and intelligence assignments and seven years as a DOD employee with the Office of Naval Intelligence in Washington, D.C.
While working in the U.S. intelligence community, he held multiple roles, including leading the U.S. government’s state-of-the-art imaging facility and serving as imaging technical advisor to the Central Intelligence Agency, and chief technical officer for the Digital Production Program Office.
Among the recognitions he has received is the National Intelligence Certificate of Distinction awarded by the Director of the CIA.
