Transfer Resulting from a Divorce or Separation - Connecticut

You have indicated that you acquired an ownership interest in the borrower’s property as the result of a divorce or separation. Please note that, in order to confirm you as a successor in interest to the borrower, we will require proof that you were transferred an ownership interest in the borrower’s property and proof of your identity.
GIVEN YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES, WE WILL ACCEPT THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS:
To prove that there was a divorce or separation:
- Divorce decree; or
- Decree of legal separation
To prove that you were transferred an ownership interest in the borrower’s property:
- If the property was transferred through a deed:
- Deed transferring the property to you
- If a divorce decree or judgment affecting the property was issued by a court in a state other than Connecticut:
- Deed transferring the property to you
- If you do not have a deed, but do have a divorce decree or decree of legal separation that evidences the transfer of ownership to you:
- Recorded divorce decree; or
- Recorded decree of legal separation
- If you do not have a deed, but do have a divorce decree or decree of legal separation that incorporates a separation agreement that evidences the transfer of ownership to you:
- Separation agreement, and either the:
- Recorded divorce decree; or
- Recorded decree of legal separation
- If you do not currently have a deed, and the divorce decree or decree of legal separation only orders the sale of the real property:
- Deed transferring the property to you
To prove your identity:
- Your photo identification
