Our diversity, equity, and inclusion journey
For the second year in a row, DiversityInc recognized Flagstar as a Noteworthy Company for Diversity.
We continued building upon our years of work toward a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace. Here are some of our accomplishments from 2021:
- Enhanced our 2021 DE&I strategic planning with pillar leaders
- Completed operational planning on DE&I impact objectives for Flagstar’s employee resource groups
- Reported monthly, quarterly, and annual DE&I metrics and an accountability schedule
- Completed self-assessments to identify areas of opportunity
- Conducted a DE&I employee survey in which 97% of participants reported feeling that Flagstar offers an inclusive workplace
- Engaged employees through our Let’s Talk About It series, covering such topics as DE&I survey results, equity in action, and generational differences
- Launched Flagstar Mentorship Circles with 125 participants and 83% overall diversity, providing guidance in advising, motivating, sponsoring, and skill-building
- Hosted the 2021 DE&I Symposium, featuring educational and awareness sessions under the theme “Belonging”
- Continued to enhance DE&I metrics reporting:
º Talent Acquisition — reported an increase in diverse talent hiring
º DE&I Culture — outpaced DE&I employee engagement industry survey scores by 53%
º Supplier Diversity — increased number of Diverse suppliers
º Community Connectivity — DE&I centered strategic giving: 88% of total Foundation grants and 81% of total CRA grants were DE&I focused
º Customer Diversity — conducted surveys to identify areas of opportunity
- Engaged employee resource groups in identifying nonprofits that would receive funding from the Flagstar Foundation
