The Flagstar Foundation focuses on providing grants to nonprofit organizations that align with the bank’s philanthropic priorities and have measurable outcomes.
CORPORATE PHILANTHROPY PRIORITIES INCLUDE:
- Apprenticeship and workforce readiness—Career development through apprenticeship programs, vocational and skilled trades training, STEM initiatives, literacy, and small business development and counseling.
- Arts and culture—Vibrant arts and cultural environment through initiatives that broaden the understanding of and exposure to art and culture by supporting visual, musical, and performing arts, art education, and exhibits.
- Financial capability—Financial education through homebuyer and credit counseling, financial literacy programs, and training on money management, predatory lending, and identity theft.
The Foundation board places special emphasis to direct grant funding toward nonprofits that serve racial and ethnic groups, the LGBTQ community, people with disabilities, women, and veterans to ensure that we are supporting and promoting the bank’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Flagstar Bank has a 30-year tradition of investing in its communities. We believe in the importance of corporate philanthropy and giving back to the communities around us. Flagstar looks to support charitable causes and provide grants to nonprofit organizations that align with our corporate philanthropy priorities within our key market areas:
- Michigan
- Northern Indiana (primarily South Bend and Fort Wayne)
- Northern Wisconsin (Gillett, Marinette, Mountain, and Oconto Falls)
- California (High Desert of San Bernardino County)
Apply for a grant from the Flagstar Foundation today.
Applications are due the last day of each quarter (March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31) with review the following quarter(s) and disbursement occurring after approval.
Make a donation
All contributions will be used to support the Foundation’s dedication to giving back to nonprofit organizations within the bank’s key market areas. Furthermore, your contribution can be designated as a general donation, in memory of, or payment for an event.
Flagstar Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and the EIN is 82-1812075. Your donation will be acknowledged with a thank you and documentation indicating that you have not received any goods or services, in whole or in part, for your voluntary contribution.
