Your Flagstar checking or savings account is all about convenience, like having fee-free access to thousands of ATMs in the U.S. and as far away as Australia. But when you’re out and about, how do you know which ones you can use and not pay a fee? Follow these simple tips to avoid spending an extra $5 to access your account.
How to spot a fee-free ATM
- Stop by a Flagstar branch. OK, so this one may be super obvious, but we want to cover all the bases: You don’t have to pay an ATM fee to access your Flagstar account at any of our 300+ branches or Flagstar-owned ATMs.
- Check the ATM for an Allpoint or Presto! logo.Your ATM or debit card is linked to two large networks—Allpoint and Presto! If an ATM has either logo on it, you’ll know you have fee-free access to your Flagstar account. Can’t remember the network names? No problem. Just check the back of your card. (As we said, it’s all about convenience.)
- Visit flagstar.com/ATM. Enter your location to see a map of in-network ATMs at convenience stores, grocery stores, gas stations, and other nearby places.
What about fees for ATMs outside the U.S.?
Fee-free access is available when you’re traveling abroad, too! Just look for ATMs in our network. However, you’ll likely pay a fee to convert the U.S. dollars in your account to Mexican pesos, British pounds, or another local currency, just as you would at a bank or currency exchange office. In other words, the fee isn’t for using the ATM. It’s for converting the currency.
ATMs are generally a great place to exchange money because they’re convenient and typically offer competitive exchange rates.
